Kent Island

Kent Island combines Stevensville and Chester, Chesapeake shoreline parks and two important trail corridors. US 50/301 and Route 8 are useful reference points, but the exact neighborhood and trail entrance shape a local day.

Kent Island sits within Queen Anne’s County, with Stevensville and Chester providing useful points of orientation. US 50/301 carries the through traffic across the island, while Route 8 is a key reference for the southern side. A local trip makes more sense when you identify the neighborhood, entrance or park you want to reach.

The Cross Island Trail connects the Terrapin area with the route toward Kent Narrows, with designated access points including Old Love Point Park. At Terrapin Nature Park in Stevensville, paths lead through woodland and wetland settings to the Bay shoreline.

Farther south, the South Island Trail follows the Route 8 corridor from Matapeake toward Romancoke. Use the county’s current trail information to check the open connections between these routes before planning a longer ride.

The Bay Bridge links island trips with Annapolis and the western shore. Check its traffic information when a crossing is part of your day, and plan island errands around their actual locations instead of treating the highway exit as the destination.
