Village
Town Center
Town Center connects Columbia’s downtown residential areas through a village association at Historic Oakland, with neighborhood maps, community information and meeting space.
Town Center is one of Columbia’s villages, but it does not take the form of a single continuous residential neighborhood. Its association describes several separated areas within the downtown commercial setting. That makes the village map especially useful when a meeting, an address or a community notice mentions a smaller neighborhood name.
Use the neighborhood names
The association’s neighborhood page and map identify places including Amesbury, Banneker, Creighton’s Run, Vantage Point and Warfield, alongside Lakefront and Merriweather District. Begin with the particular destination, then use the map to understand its relationship to the rest of downtown. The village name alone is too broad to serve as an arrival instruction, especially when one person is thinking of the lake and another is thinking of a residential street.
Find the association at Historic Oakland
Town Center’s community association works from Historic Oakland at 5430 Vantage Point Road. The building serves as a community center and offers space for meetings and social events. It is a useful contact point for village questions and for someone considering a local gathering. An event rental and an office visit are different arrangements, so use the association’s contact route to establish the appropriate appointment.
Follow the village’s everyday work
The association publishes board information, community news and administrative resources. New residents can use those channels to learn which issues the village is discussing and where to direct a question. For an event organizer, start with the room and date required; for a resident, start with the exact address and topic. Both approaches are more effective than treating every downtown property or public space as something administered from the same office.
