Neighborhood

Vantage Point

Vantage Point combines Town Center’s village office at Historic Oakland with a neighborhood park and a literary naming tradition. Start with the manor’s appointment process and CA’s play-area map.

A Town Center neighborhood with a historic landmark

Vantage Point is one of Town Center’s separate residential neighborhoods in Columbia. Its name comes from a Robert Frost poem, and its street names draw on Frost and William Cullen Bryant. The village neighborhood directory is useful here: a Town Center address can belong to a smaller residential area, well beyond the mall and commercial core.

Start at Historic Oakland

Historic Oakland, at 5430 Vantage Point Road, houses the Town Center village office and operates as an event venue. Built in 1811, the house combines architectural changes from several periods. Its grounds and meeting rooms provide a setting for weddings, gatherings and business events. Venue tours require an appointment; the operator does not accept walk-in tours. Arranging a visit is the practical way to explore the building without interrupting a private event.

Find the neighborhood park

Columbia Association lists Vantage Point Park among its Town Center play areas. For a short outdoor visit, use the park name as your destination, then consult CA’s play-area and pathway maps for the approach. The same map collection shows village and neighborhood layers, helpful when comparing a Vantage Point location with the larger Town Center area. Historic Oakland, the neighborhood park and the village office give newcomers three concrete starting points for understanding this part of Columbia.
