Neighborhood
Banneker
Banneker is a Town Center residential neighborhood on Banneker Road. Its fire-station landmark, local play areas and the current Central Library give practical orientation points.
Banneker Road and Town Center
Banneker belongs to Columbia’s Town Center village. The community history places its first residents in late 1992 and identifies the neighborhood along Banneker Road behind the fire station. It is a distinct residential area within a village whose neighborhoods are spread across downtown Columbia. Use the street and neighborhood name together when arranging a visit, rather than treating every Town Center destination as the same location.
Useful local reference points
Howard County’s fire-station directory lists Station 7, Banneker, at 5815 Banneker Road. It is a working emergency-services site, so it serves as a navigation landmark rather than visitor parking. For an outdoor stop, Columbia Association’s Town Center play-area list includes Wyndham Circle and Cloudy April Way. Those named locations are more useful for finding a playground than a broad search for downtown parks.
Use the current library address
The Central Branch of Howard County Library System remains at 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway. It offers room reservations, public computers and printing, an artwork collection and Project Literacy classes for adult learners. The branch also sells RTA fixed-route fare cards. The library’s website discusses a future Lakefront building, but the existing branch address is the one to use for present services. Its calendar and reservation links make the branch a practical next stop for study, meetings or community activities.
