River Hill

River Hill is Columbia’s final village, comprising Pheasant Ridge and Pointers Run. It sits off Route 108 in the Clarksville area, so a Clarksville address and a River Hill village identity can describe the same destination. Claret Hall provides a practical starting point for community activity, while the nearby Middle Patuxent Environmental Area offers a separate outdoor visit.

Meet at Claret Hall

The River Hill Community Association works from Claret Hall at 6020 Daybreak Circle. The center hosts board and committee meetings, classes and private rentals. Staff also provide newcomer information and local publications. For a new resident, a scheduled activity can be a useful first visit; for an organizer, the room and date are the first details to establish before inviting guests.

Recognize the village facilities

The association’s village overview identifies the shopping center, River Hill outdoor pool and Columbia Gym among the local facilities. These serve different needs and follow their own schedules and admission arrangements. A meal or an errand at the shopping center can fit around a class, but check the actual facility address and program time before combining them into one trip.

Use a designated trailhead

The Middle Patuxent Environmental Foundation describes two routes into the county-owned environmental area: the Wildlife Loop from the Trotter Road parking lot and the South Wind Trail from South Wind Circle. Choose a named trailhead and download the relevant map before setting out. This is a conservation landscape to explore on its marked trails, not a shortcut through surrounding residential land. Make the return route part of the plan, especially when a walk is only one stop in the day.
