Oakland Mills is one of Columbia’s ten villages, with a community calendar that gives visitors several concrete reasons to stop at its village center. The Other Barn is the association’s gathering place, while Columbia Ice Rink provides a nearby recreation destination. Plan around the particular program rather than expecting every facility to operate on the same timetable.

Find an event at The Other Barn

The Oakland Mills Community Association is at 5851 Robert Oliver Place. Its calendar includes village meetings, a fall festival and Lively Arts for Little Ones performances. The Other Barn also has event rental space. For a family outing, begin with a performance’s intended audience and admission details; for a meeting or celebration, contact the venue about the room and date. A community event listing is an invitation to that event, not unrestricted access to every space in the building.

Plan a separate rink session

Columbia Ice Rink is adjacent to the village center at 5876 Thunder Hill Road. CA describes an August-to-June operating season, with public skating, skate rentals, lessons and dedicated hockey or figure-skating sessions. Choose a public session if that is the visit you want. A hockey practice or skating work session on the calendar is not interchangeable with open recreational skating, even when it falls at a convenient time.
