Hickory Ridge
Hickory Ridge links Hawthorn, Clemens Crossing and Clary’s Forest through village services, neighborhood recreation and nearby nature programming along the Cedar Lane area.
Hickory Ridge is a Columbia village comprising Hawthorn, Clemens Crossing and Clary’s Forest. The Hawthorn Center and the village shopping center serve different everyday purposes, while nearby county nature programming offers another reason to explore the area. Start with the facility you need rather than using the village name as a single destination.
Find the village office
The Hickory Ridge Community Association is based at the Hawthorn Center, 6175 Sunny Spring. Staff provide village information and maps, and the center hosts community activities and rentals. The village shopping center is at Cedar Lane and Freetown Road. Keeping those two locations separate helps when arranging a meeting: someone going to the association office should not simply be sent to the shops.
Use the neighborhood recreation map
The association’s facilities page identifies pools for Hawthorn, Clary’s Forest and Clemens Crossing, along with play areas including the larger playground beside the Hawthorn Center and pool. Pool operation and entry belong to CA’s recreation system, so look up the applicable season and admission arrangements before planning a swimming visit. For a shorter outing, choose the specific play space and its public approach instead of assuming every recreation feature is open in the same way.
Add a nature-center visit
Nearby Robinson Nature Center, at 6692 Cedar Lane, offers indoor exhibits, a children’s discovery room, outdoor natural play and planetarium programming. It is operated by Howard County and has its own admission and program arrangements. A scheduled planetarium presentation is a separate plan from browsing the exhibits. Use the center’s calendar to decide which experience fits the time and interests of your group.
