Neighborhood
Hawthorn
Hawthorn was Hickory Ridge’s first neighborhood and remains home to its village office, playground and outdoor pool.
Hawthorn was the first neighborhood settled in Columbia’s Hickory Ridge village, with residents arriving in 1973. Today the Hickory Ridge Community Association works from the Hawthorn Center at 6175 Sunny Spring, keeping a village resource within the neighborhood.
Sunny Spring as a starting point
The association’s parks and facilities guide identifies a large playground beside the center and pool. This grouping is useful for finding local activities, although a visit to the playground and use of the aquatic facility involve different arrangements.
Hawthorn Pool has a six-lane beach-entry main pool, a wading pool with water features, a hot tub and shaded areas. Columbia Association also lists adjacent basketball courts and a play area. Review the pool’s seasonal schedule and admission information before going; ask the operator about particular access needs.
The village office offers a separate practical stop for residents seeking community-event information, pathway maps or guidance on architectural applications. Use that office for village questions, and the pool operator for swimming plans, rather than assuming all activities at the Sunny Spring address follow the same hours.
