Havre de Grace Waterfront
Havre de Grace’s waterfront links a bayfront walk with a lighthouse and museums that interpret the region’s maritime history.
The Havre de Grace Promenade connects Tydings Park with Concord Point Lighthouse along the upper Chesapeake Bay. Interpretive signs add context to the water views, making the walk an introduction to the waterfront even when a museum visit is not on the schedule.
Separate the grounds from the climb
The Concord Point Lighthouse and Keeper’s House Museum publish seasonal weekend opening hours from April through October. Interior admission is free during those hours. Climbing the tower involves steps and a ladder, with a minimum height of 42 inches. Seeing the lighthouse from the waterfront and going inside are therefore two different plans.
Waterways and human stories
The Havre de Grace Maritime Museum’s permanent exhibits include an Underground Railroad gallery explaining the role of local waterways in journeys to freedom. It connects the waterfront’s physical setting with the lives of people who crossed, worked on or traveled along the region’s rivers.
Choose a short promenade outing for an open-air visit, or check the museums’ separate hours and admission arrangements for a longer day. The nearby attractions share a waterfront setting, but they do not all follow the same operating calendar.
