Neighborhood
West Annapolis
West Annapolis combines a distinct commercial core with surrounding residential streets. Start with Annapolis Street, the city’s area plan and current Weems Creek access information.
West Annapolis offers a different introduction to the city from the downtown waterfront. Its commercial area is associated with Annapolis Street, while nearby residential streets and the Rowe Boulevard approach give the district several ways in and out. The city's business-district guide identifies a mix of shops and professional services here.
Understand the commercial core
The West Annapolis Master Plan, finalized in July 2021, focuses on a six-block commercial study area between Taylor Avenue and Monterey Avenue, and between Annapolis Street and Rowe Boulevard. That study area helps explain the center of the planning discussion; it is not a legal description of every property someone might call West Annapolis.
The plan offers a view of intended improvements and future development. Read a proposal as a proposal, then check the actual street, business entrance and project status that matter for your visit or property decision.
Check Tucker Street before a launch
The city’s boat-ramp page identifies Tucker Street as its Weems Creek launch. Its renovation notice still suspends permit sales and points boaters to Truxtun Park as an alternative. The posted estimated completion date has passed without a confirmed reopening notice on that page. Check with the Harbormaster before relying on Tucker Street access or buying a permit, and use the separate rules for the launch you choose.
Make a practical first visit
Choose a specific shop, service or street as the starting point. Compare the approach from Rowe Boulevard with the entrance you actually need, then leave time to explore the surrounding commercial blocks on foot where the route suits you.
