Whitney’s Landing

Explore Whitney’s Landing’s Severn River beach, ferry history, community gatherings and boating facilities, with association maps and practical access details.

Whitney’s Landing has a long connection to crossing and enjoying the Severn River. The community was platted in 1919 and its association formed in 1924. Before that, a ferry linked the area at present-day Jumpers Hole Road with Arden-on-the-Severn on the opposite shore. Read the community’s ferry history.

From ferry landing to neighborhood waterfront

The association recounts a past with rental boats, a swim club and a dance hall. Today its shared waterfront has a beach, separate swim pier, beach house, boat ramp, slips and kayak or canoe storage. A volleyball court, grills and picnic tables add places to gather on land. Explore today’s amenities.

A social side to river life

The association describes community picnics, beach and garden cleanups, campouts and grill nights. The beach house can be reserved by members under its current rules. These activities give residents several ways to participate beyond owning a boat; consult current notices for actual dates.

Plan a visit with the association

The community publishes an outline map and identifies its beach at 648 Jumpers Hole Road. Confirm whether a particular property falls within the association, and arrange visits through an authorized member. Boating space and paddlecraft storage need their own availability check. The beach and recreation facilities are private community property.
