Round Bay

Explore Round Bay’s Severn River setting and association-owned waterfront, with links to county records and questions to ask about present access.

Round Bay is a Severn River neighborhood with a community beach and pier near Edgewater Road. The riverfront is its focal point, while the surrounding hills give the neighborhood a different landscape from the flatter parts of Severna Park. Its story began with recreation: Round Bay grew from a resort served by the old Baltimore–Annapolis railroad. Explore Round Bay’s history.

From railroad resort to river neighborhood

The county’s watershed history describes Round Bay’s railroad origins and the prominent hills around it, including Mount Misery. Today the former railway corridor is part of the wider area’s recreation landscape. The B&A Trail follows the old railroad route for walking, running and cycling, giving residents another way to spend time outdoors beyond the river.

Time by the water

The association’s shared waterfront includes Edgewater Pier. For a home visit, arrange beach access with the association or an authorized resident and ask about the activities you want to use: swimming, boating and equipment storage can have separate arrangements. Community waterfront facilities are private.

A public outing in Severna Park

Along the B&A Trail, Hatton-Regester Green offers gardens, benches and a gazebo. Farther along the trail, Earleigh Heights has a former station building and parking. Use the county maps to choose a comfortable route and access point. Neither outing depends on membership in Round Bay’s waterfront facilities.
