Cape Arthur
Learn how Cape Arthur’s Magothy River and Cypress Creek setting connects to its history, community beach and distinct owner and member privileges.
Cape Arthur occupies a waterfront setting between the Magothy River and Cypress Creek. Its association history traces the neighborhood’s development to land assembled by the Giddings family beginning in 1948, followed by the improvement association’s founding in 1954. McKinsey Road provides a recognizable approach from Ritchie Highway. Community history.
A distinction worth understanding
The association’s history distinguishes limited bathing privileges for property owners from use of improvements maintained for association members. Its list of those improvements includes piers, boat storage and launch facilities. That makes “beach access” an incomplete description of a home’s privileges: ask which rights attach to the property and which depend on current membership, fees or availability.
Community stewardship
The Cape Arthur Improvement Association coordinates communications and maintains common property through a volunteer board. Its membership page is the starting point for current participation information. The historical account also describes the neighborhood’s playground and waterfront work; use the association directly to confirm current rules and facility status. Membership information.
What to compare on a visit
Check the actual route from the home to the facility you expect to use, including how you would carry a kayak or other equipment. Arrange a waterfront visit through an authorized resident. For a public swimming program independent of association membership, consult the community center’s aquatics options and its reservation requirements.
