Odenton
Odenton brings together a historic railroad community and one of Anne Arundel County’s designated Town Centers, with separate resources for heritage and future development.
Odenton has a historic center to explore and an active planning framework for growth. Anne Arundel County identifies Odenton as one of its three Town Centers; its current town-center page links the master plan, development information and public committee materials. Those resources help explain a place whose older streets and newer projects should be considered together.
Find the historic core
The Odenton Heritage Society identifies Odenton Road and Becknel Avenue among the streets at the heart of the historic district. Its Historical Center at 1367 Odenton Road offers another point of entry. The upstairs museum uses objects, photographs and documents to describe local life and the railroads that helped shape the community. Check the society’s opening dates or appointment options before arranging the visit, and ask about access if stairs affect your plans.
Read the town-center plan in context
The county states that the 2024 master plan and associated code revisions took effect on March 29, 2024. The plan is a framework for development, transportation, natural resources and public investment. For a specific site, move from that overview to the current development record. An adopted plan and a completed building are different stages.
Build a visit around your interests
A history visit can begin with the museum and its local sites map. A relocation or business visit benefits from a shortlist of actual addresses and the town-center development page. Odenton also appears with Piney Orchard, Gambrills, Crofton and other communities in the county’s Region 5 plan, which provides the wider planning context without making those places interchangeable.
