Murray Hill
Get oriented in Murray Hill using its residents association, the streets between West Street and Spa Creek, and official public-space information.
Murray Hill is a residential part of Annapolis with a useful neighborhood-level source: the Murray Hill Residents Association. The association describes an area extending from Cathedral Street to Chase Street and from West Street to Spa Creek, including Spa View Heights. Use that as the association's description of the community, rather than a substitute for a parcel, zoning or school-boundary lookup.
Read the neighborhood at street level
The association's history connects the modern neighborhood with the Acton estate and later subdivision of the land. It also describes homes from different periods and with different architectural forms. That is a reason to look closely at the particular block and property, instead of assuming one housing style represents the whole area.
Connect the visit to a public destination
For recreation, start with the city park locator, which provides a route to named public parks and facilities. If the destination is the water, use the separate public water access tool. It is useful to distinguish a public viewpoint or launch location from a private shoreline or dock.
Find the right source for a local question
The residents association can provide community context and its own current activities. City departments remain the source for municipal services and official property questions. Before building a daily routine around a nearby destination, check the actual entrance, crossings and route from the address in question. The neighborhood name alone cannot establish those details.
