Neighborhood
Homewood
Homewood is part of Annapolis’s Germantown–Homewood community south of West Street. Its former farm landscape, Poplar railway corridor and Busch library provide three useful ways to understand the area.
Homewood south of West Street
Homewood belongs to the larger Germantown–Homewood community in Annapolis. The association’s history describes how produce farmland south of West Street became residential streets in the early twentieth century, with the southern section taking the Homewood name. This is the City neighborhood; its name should not be substituted for another community simply because an address also uses Annapolis.
Follow the railway story
Poplar Park occupies a former railway corridor through the broader community. The association recounts how neighbors planted the disused right-of-way and helped preserve it as green space before the City installed Poplar Path in 2000. The history page offers a useful introduction before a walk: the long, narrow park makes more sense when you know that trains once used the same corridor.
Use the library as a practical starting point
The Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library is at 1410 West Street. Its current branch page links to the meeting-room information and activity calendar and lists EV charging stations. It is a useful indoor destination for getting oriented, checking local programs or combining a library visit with errands on West Street. Consult the branch calendar for the particular event you want to attend.
