District
City Dock
City Dock is Annapolis’s downtown waterfront district. Use current construction and access information to plan a visit around Ego Alley and Dock Street.
City Dock is the waterfront focus of downtown Annapolis, around Dock Street and Ego Alley. It is also a place in transition: a visit planned from an older photograph or a familiar annual-event routine can run into a changed pedestrian route, berth or gathering place.
Read the project update before the itinerary
The city's August 25, 2026 construction update separates the anticipated reopening of the Ego Alley boardwalk from completion of the new park and welcome center. The schedule also carries a later phase into spring 2028. Use those milestones as context, then consult Access Annapolis construction updates for the arrangements affecting the day of your visit.
For a boat trip or a booked activity, confirm the actual meeting place with the operator. For a meal or shop visit, confirm the entrance and the route from your parking location. A nearby business may remain reachable while the usual approach to the water changes.
Waterfront access has several meanings
The city's public water access tool helps distinguish places for viewing the water from locations that support a particular activity. Seeing a pier, slip or shoreline on a map does not establish that a visitor can launch there, tie up, swim or enter private property.
Keep the rest of downtown in the plan
Build a visit with an alternative away from the construction area. The Annapolis reading collection connects the waterfront with the city's other districts and useful local planning information.
