Municipality

Millington

Millington crosses the Chester River between Queen Anne’s and Kent counties, with nearby pond recreation at Cypress Branch State Park.

Millington occupies both sides of the Chester River in Queen Anne’s and Kent counties. The county’s historical account follows earlier names including Head of Chester and Bridgetown before Millington became the town’s name in 1818. The river and county line are central to understanding its location.

Getting oriented in town

The Town of Millington identifies its municipal office at 402 Cypress Street. The town directs requests for meeting records, notices, forms and permits to its office while its website is rebuilt. Use the town contact for questions about its services and the appropriate county for services tied to a particular property.

A nearby pond and natural area

Cypress Branch State Park is nearby in Kent County, at 10803 Galena Road. The state describes a 314-acre landscape of fields, woods and marsh, with a three-acre freshwater pond for fishing and picnic tables overlooking the water. This is a separate state-managed destination, outside Queen Anne’s County.

The park is open for low-impact recreation, but its formal trail network remains in the design phase according to the current DNR page. Parking is limited to the area near the pond. Plan around the facilities that exist rather than expecting a finished system of signed trails.

A town visit and time beside the pond can complement one another, while keeping their locations and management clear. Start with a precise destination address rather than treating every Millington mailing address as part of the incorporated town.
