Neighborhood

Jeffers Hill

Jeffers Hill pairs literary street names with a neighborhood center and seasonal recreation on Tamar Drive in Long Reach.

Jeffers Hill belongs to Long Reach, one of Columbia’s planned villages. The neighborhood takes its name from poet Robinson Jeffers; the community association’s history also connects many Long Reach street names to his poetry. Its neighborhood center opened in 1974, following the first two centers elsewhere in the village.

Community space on Tamar Drive

The Jeffers Hill Neighborhood Center is at 6031 Tamar Drive beside the pool. Long Reach rents its neighborhood centers for smaller gatherings and meetings, with kitchens, tables and chairs. Arrange a tour in advance through the rental office rather than treating the building as a drop-in visitor center.

The adjacent Jeffers Hill Pool adds a distinctive summer activity: a climbing wall above the diving well. Columbia Association also lists an eight-lane main pool, a wading pool, shaded areas and a neighboring sand-volleyball court. The operator’s page links to schedules, admission policies and current pool status. Check those before choosing a swimming date, especially when planning a gathering that also uses the neighborhood center.
