Hickory

Harford’s Hickory combines county-service infrastructure with recreation connections shared by Forest Hill and Fountain Green.

Hickory is one of the place names that links everyday services across central Harford County. A recent example is the county’s May 22, 2026 announcement of a Special Operations facility groundbreaking on Ady Road. The project was intended to consolidate equipment and offices from several Forest Hill sites at the Department of Emergency Services property. The announcement describes construction beginning, not a completed visitor facility.

Recreation across neighboring communities

The Hickory–Fountain Green Recreation Council works with county Parks and Recreation on local programming. Its combined name reflects a service relationship that extends beyond one road or residential development. Start with the council when researching a program, then confirm its particular venue and registration requirements.

The county also lists the Forest Hill/Hickory Activities Center at 2213 Commerce Road, Suite 2, with a Forest Hill mailing address. That is the destination to use for an activity scheduled there. It is separate from the emergency-services site on Ady Road. For newcomers, these named institutions are useful orientation points: the Hickory name may identify a community connection while the full street address tells you where to go.
