Forest Hill
Forest Hill’s MA & PA trail segment links park time with the railroad corridor that once carried Harford County’s goods to market.
In Forest Hill, the MA & PA Trail turns an old transportation corridor into an everyday place to walk, run or ride. The Forest Hill segment connects Friends Park with Blake’s Venture Park, passing a marsh overlook and through a tunnel beneath Maryland Route 23. Friends Park’s ball fields and picnic setting give the trail a natural starting point for a shorter outing.
A railroad landscape
The trail organization’s history describes a railroad that connected Baltimore and York and carried milk, mail and products from Harford’s canneries and quarries. That working history adds context to a route now used for recreation. Consult the current trail map and posted signs before extending a walk beyond the Forest Hill section.
A year-round community resource
The county lists the Forest Hill/Hickory Activities Center at 2213 Commerce Road, Suite 2. It provides a separate contact for organized recreation, useful when looking for a scheduled indoor activity rather than a trail outing. Check program registration and the specific venue before heading out: a park, an activity center and a trail entrance may all use the Forest Hill name while serving different purposes.
