Waysons Corner

Waysons Corner has a nature preserve with two named entrances and its own daily schedule. It belongs to the wider Jug Bay landscape, while the main sanctuary is a separate destination on Wrighton Road.

Choose the preserve entrance

The Nature Preserve at Waysons Corner lists its main entrance at 5490 Sands Road and a secondary entrance at 5481 Southern Maryland Boulevard. Both use Lothian mailing addresses. Decide which entrance suits your plan before sharing directions; the two addresses should not be treated as interchangeable meeting points.

Plan a low-key outdoor visit

The preserve provides trails and picnic space, with daylight access and leashed pets permitted under county rules. It is a place to plan a walk around a natural setting rather than a visit organized around a large recreation building. Use the preserve map to choose your route and return to the same entrance, particularly when meeting a group arriving in separate cars.

Distinguish Waysons from the main sanctuary

The Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary page lists several different sites in this landscape. Waysons has daily dawn-to-dusk access, while the main sanctuary at 1361 Wrighton Road follows its own operating schedule and program arrangements. A program advertised for Jug Bay may require that other address. Match the destination, entrance and calendar before combining a preserve walk with a scheduled sanctuary activity.
