Pasadena
Pasadena has several public outdoor destinations, from Lake Waterford to the Chesapeake waterfront at Downs Park, with current access notices shaping visits.
Pasadena-area outings can take different forms, from an inland park visit to time beside the Chesapeake Bay. Lake Waterford and Downs Park are useful starting points, with separate entrances and facilities. Choose the activity first and check the relevant park’s current notices before building the day around it.
At Lake Waterford
Lake Waterford Park is at 830 Pasadena Road. The county highlights Freedom Field, an adaptive recreation complex with a rubberized surface, along with other outdoor facilities. At the November 2, 2026 source check, dredging could restrict fishing and hiking beside the lake, and the restrooms were temporarily closed for construction. Contact the park for current conditions if those facilities are important to the visit.
On the Chesapeake at Downs Park
Downs Park is at 8311 John Downs Loop. Its Bay setting includes trails, a fishing pier and a designated cartop boat launch at Locust Cove. Review pass requirements and activity information before traveling. Use the live park page for activity-specific access notices and the entrance map.
Keep plans flexible
These parks offer different settings, so choose one as the main destination rather than assuming the same facilities or rules apply at both. Check the entrance map, weather and current access information. Groups planning a pavilion gathering or other organized use should use the county’s reservation process; an ordinary park visit does not reserve a facility.
