Millersville
Millersville’s railroad and post-office history gives context to its historic village. A separate county park project on Millersville Road is still a construction project, with future facilities to follow through official updates.
A village shaped by rail and mail
The Maryland Historical Trust’s Childs Residence record connects Millersville with the Annapolis and Elkridge Railroad, completed in 1840. The village received the line’s first post office in 1841. The nomination also identifies the George Miller residence, store and post-office role associated with the property, explaining how commerce and transportation shaped the settlement.
Use the historical record carefully
The nomination is a historical research document, with descriptions and photographs from its preparation period. It is useful for understanding the village’s surviving architecture and earlier uses. Those uses should not be read as an operating shop, station or museum today. A history visit begins with the record and public streets, with any interior access arranged separately with the property owner.
Follow the new park project
The county’s Millersville Park project is at 1580 Millersville Road. Its May 26, 2026 update lists construction status and describes planned fields, walking trails, a dog park, a playground and other recreation facilities. Use the project page for progress and schedule information. The design’s amenity list explains what is being built; it does not establish that the park is open for an outing.
