Harwood

Harwood’s rural roads connect working farmland, Patuxent greenway trails and county recreation services in southern Anne Arundel.

Harwood is part of southern Anne Arundel’s rural landscape, with destinations spread along Solomons Island Road, Sands Road and Owensville Sudley Road. Its working farms and public facilities offer different ways to get to know the area without treating every open field as visitor space.

Seasonal farm visits

Knightongale Farm stands at Route 2 and Birdsville Road, with an address of 3924 Solomons Island Road. The operator identifies it as a working farm open seasonally for events and by appointment. That distinction is useful: consult its current event arrangements before driving out, rather than assuming an agricultural property is open daily. The farm provides one concrete example of how local agriculture and seasonal recreation meet.

Trails and community programs

For public outdoor space, the county lists Patuxent River Greenway–Bayard at 4220 Sands Road, Harwood. The site offers trails and fishing from dawn to dusk. Use the county location page for the entrance and applicable fishing guidance; it does not describe the property as a full-service recreation center.

At 4510 Owensville Sudley Road, the South County Recreation Center is a separate community resource. The county’s Pre-K program page confirms a registered program for children ages three through five at this Harwood address. Enrollment has capacity limits and its own procedures. Together, these destinations show the area’s mix of working land, outdoor access and practical services, spread across several roads rather than concentrated in one town square.
