Galesville
Galesville pairs a compact West River waterfront stop with a separate park that preserves the name and home field of the historic Galesville Hot Sox.
Galesville’s West River setting offers two distinct public starting points: the waterfront at Galesville Wharf and Hot Sox Field at Wilson Park. Plan them as separate destinations. Together they introduce both the community’s relationship with the water and a place associated with its baseball history.
At the river
The county’s Galesville Wharf page directs visitors to 4847 Riverside Drive. The small waterfront park includes a fishing pier and places to sit, with limited parking. Its cartop boat access requires attention to traffic in a harbor used by larger boats. Review the county’s current access information and relevant water conditions before planning a paddle. A place to launch is only one part of deciding whether an outing suits your experience and equipment.
The Hot Sox connection
Wilson Park is at 862 Galesville Road. Anne Arundel County identifies Hot Sox Field as the home of the historic Galesville Hot Sox and lists a baseball field, natural trails and a pavilion. The field and pavilion have a rental process, so arrange organized use with the county instead of assuming an empty facility is available for a reserved activity.
Keep the outing manageable
For a first visit, choose the wharf as a short waterfront stop or the park as the main destination, then add the other if your group has time. Check the return route and parking for each stop. Respect nearby homes and working marine properties: the public locations on this page provide specific places to start, while neighboring docks and waterfront land may have their own access rules.
