Deale

Deale combines a Rockhold Creek waterfront setting with practical South County resources, from its public wharf to the local library and shoreline project information.

Deale’s waterfront and everyday community services make a useful starting point for exploring southern Anne Arundel County. Two concrete destinations are the public wharf on Deale Road and the library on Deale-Churchton Road. Plan around their individual entrances and current information rather than treating the community name as a single destination.

At Deale Wharf

The county lists Deale Wharf at 521 Deale Road as a fishing location. The separate project page describes work on the wharf and a living shoreline along Rockhold Creek. As of the October 2, 2026 source check, the shoreline remained in design and permitting. The county’s July public meeting is a past planning milestone, not confirmation that the project is complete. Review the project page for changes before arranging an outing around access to the site.

A library with a local role

Deale Library at 5940 Deale-Churchton Road provides computers, Wi-Fi and printing alongside its program calendar. Its oyster-shell recycling bin, offered in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, is a distinctive connection between an everyday public facility and the Bay. Check the branch’s current instructions before bringing materials, and use the program listing for reservations or age requirements.

For a first visit or a longer stay

Choose one waterfront stop and leave time for the practical destinations you want to investigate. People considering the area can use the county’s Region Planning resources to understand the broader South County context. For boating, dining or services at a particular business, confirm that business’s own access and booking arrangements. The public wharf’s listing does not establish access to every nearby marina or dock.
