Community
Brooklyn Park
Brooklyn Park’s arts center and public library offer practical ways to learn, make things and connect with local services. The Anne Arundel community remains distinct from Baltimore City’s Brooklyn neighborhood.
Start on Hammonds Lane
Brooklyn Park has a substantial arts destination at Chesapeake Arts Center, 194 Hammonds Lane, just outside Baltimore City. Performances, classes and creative work share the campus. Choose a listed program or arrange a campus visit through the center; a building address alone does not establish drop-in access to every studio.
Make a project with the right preparation
The center’s Michael Stanley MakerSpace includes a woodshop, laser lab and screen-printing facilities. Open Studio is for people ages 16 and older who have completed the relevant preparation. Beginners can start with a course or workshop; experienced woodworkers can use the skills-verification process. Match the registration to the equipment your project needs.
Use the neighborhood library
Brooklyn Park Library is at 1 East 11th Avenue, with a Baltimore mailing address but within the Anne Arundel library system. Alongside books and programs, it offers public computers, printing and a career navigator for help with résumés and job applications. Its branch calendar is a useful next stop when planning a visit around a class, appointment or family program.
