Community
Bay Ridge
Bay Ridge combines civic-association activity, woodland stewardship and waterfront recreation. The marina clubhouse and seasonal pool have separate roles, with membership and beach-use rules that newcomers should read.
A community organized around shared places
Bay Ridge’s civic life has a long institutional history: the Bay Ridge Civic Association dates its work to 1927. The association maintains community grounds and identifies both woodland preservation and shoreline stabilization among its responsibilities. Its marina clubhouse at 80 East Lake Drive is the setting for membership meetings. Residents may attend those meetings, while voting is reserved for members.
The pool has its own membership process
The Bay Ridge Pool Association’s current rules require an annual application, including for existing members. The pool operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Resident membership is tied to Bay Ridge residency and civic-association membership; a separate nonresident category includes eligible Annapolis Cove households. Use the pool’s application process to establish eligibility and the relevant membership category.
Keep the beach rules specific
The pool rules also describe a narrow beach-use arrangement: eligible nonresident pool members may make incidental use of the beach directly in front of the pool during pool hours. That arrangement does not extend to other Bay Ridge beaches. For newcomers, the useful first step is to distinguish the civic association, pool association and the particular waterfront space being discussed.
