Arundel on the Bay

Arundel on the Bay is an Anne Arundel waterfront community with resident beach and pier access and a substantial local-history collection. Its association is the starting point for new residents and invited guests.

A community near Thomas Point

Arundel on the Bay lies on the Chesapeake outside the City of Annapolis. Its property owners association dates the community to 1890 and identifies Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse as a nearby landmark. The association maintains current community notices, waterfront information and a welcome process for new residents, including renters.

Arrange waterfront access with your host

The boat launch, pier and beach are resident facilities. The association asks residents to accompany guests where possible and provides a guest-pass process when accompaniment is impractical. Newport Community Pier also has controlled access. An invited visitor should arrange access through the resident host before bringing a boat or planning a beach gathering; a shoreline shown on a map is not an invitation to use the facilities.

Explore the community’s own history collection

The association’s history page links to a published community history and oral-history videos. Participants discuss changing neighborhood life, education and the experiences of African American residents. These recorded accounts offer a richer introduction than a quick drive through the streets. For present-day activities, the association’s calendar and The Pier newsletter provide the more useful starting points.
