West Friendship

West Friendship’s fairgrounds and agricultural institutions connect rural traditions with present-day public programs and county services.

The Howard County Fairgrounds at 2210 Fairgrounds Road are one of West Friendship’s clearest landmarks. The Fair Association provides a grounds map, contest information, entertainment listings and event rules. Those details turn a broad fairgrounds destination into a specific outing: the activity, building and admission arrangements depend on the event being held.

Agriculture beyond the fair

West Friendship also has a continuing role in county agricultural services. In March 2025, Howard County opened its Office of Agriculture in the restored Hebb House at West Friendship Park. The announcement discussed planning and design for a larger agricultural center. That proposed work is a separate stage from the office that opened, so suggested future facilities should not be assumed available.

The park directory gives the address as 12985 Frederick Road and lists a target-archery range for registered program participants. It is a different destination from the fairgrounds. For residents, these institutions offer several connections with local farming and community activity, from attending an event to finding an agricultural service or signing up for an organized program.
