Cooksville

Cooksville’s Route97 public facilities bring indoor recreation, programs for older adults and library resources into one part of western Howard County.

The Gary J. Arthur Community Center at 2400 MD 97 is an important Cooksville gathering place within Western Regional Park. Recreation, health and aging services share the facility. A gymnasium, fitness room, indoor walking track and activity rooms provide different ways to use the building, from an exercise routine to a scheduled class.

Choose the access that fits the activity

The county distinguishes basic center membership from packages covering fitness equipment and other facilities. A membership that mentions pool access refers to pools at other centers; it should not be read as a pool at Gary J. Arthur. Program registration, daily admission and memberships are separate routes into activities. The center asks visitors to confirm that a gym program is running as scheduled.

A library address nearby

The Glenwood Branch library is at 2350 MD 97, also with a Cooksville address. Its reading, meeting and creative spaces complement the center’s recreation role. The two facilities give residents distinct options along the same road: library resources at one address and organized indoor recreation at another, each with its own program calendar.
