Neighborhood

Running Brook

Running Brook is a Wilde Lake neighborhood with recreation on Columbia Road and access to the village’s lake setting. Pool visits, boating and shoreline activities have different arrangements.

A name from Robert Frost

Running Brook is one of Wilde Lake’s three neighborhoods in Columbia. The village association traces its name to the work of Robert Frost. The neighborhood and the larger village share a lake-oriented setting, but the most useful destinations have their own names and entrances: Running Brook Pool, Wilde Lake Park and the village’s community facilities.

Recreation on Columbia Road

Running Brook Pool is at 5730 Columbia Road. Its main pool has six lanes, while a separate splash-pad play area adds a different option for younger visitors. Shade structures and an in-water basketball hoop are among the listed features. The facility operates on an outdoor-pool schedule; choose a session from CA’s current calendar when planning a swim.

Plan the lake visit separately

CA’s lake information describes Wilde Lake as a man-made lake created in 1967. Small permitted craft require an annual CA registration sticker, even though registration has no fee. Fishing has additional location-specific rules: the Wilde Lake fishing map and regulations identify shoreline sections where fishing is restricted. Use the mapped park facilities and marked paths rather than assuming every stretch beside the water is public access. For a simple outing, a pool visit and a separate park stop are clearer plans than an improvised circuit through residential lakefront areas.
