Neighborhood
Longfellow
Longfellow is Harper’s Choice’s first neighborhood, with a poetry-based street map and recreation on Eliot’s Oak Road. Village services and block-party grants offer practical ways to get involved.
A neighborhood named in poetry
Longfellow was the first neighborhood in Harper’s Choice. According to the village association, its name honors Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and its street names come from his poems. That gives the neighborhood a distinctive organizing thread: the names on the map connect the individual streets to the larger village’s early development.
Start on Eliot’s Oak Road
Longfellow Pool, at 5257 Eliot’s Oak Road, has a six-lane main pool, a beach-entry wading pool with water features and shade structures. CA also lists adjacent basketball courts. A swim needs the current seasonal schedule and admission arrangement, while the named recreation site is a useful meeting point for getting oriented. The facility’s own page provides the direct contact and schedule links.
Meet people through the village
Harper’s Choice offers a block-party grant process for residents who want to organize a street gathering. An application and an invitation list covering everyone on the street must be submitted before the party; reimbursement requires receipts, and the usual limit is one grant per street each year. This is a concrete option for a new neighbor who would like to help organize something local. For practical errands, the association’s office services include copying and notary appointments at Kahler Hall, 5440 Old Tucker Row. Call ahead to arrange staff availability.
