District

Downtown Westminster

Downtown Westminster puts galleries, library learning and a seasonal farmers market along the Main Street area. Match a short visit to an exhibition, workshop or market morning.

Downtown Westminster rewards a visit built around one activity, with time left for Main Street businesses. Galleries at the western end and library learning spaces farther east give the center more than one anchor. This is the downtown district within Westminster, rather than a label for every business carrying a Westminster address.

Begin with an exhibition

The city identifies the Tevis and Community galleries at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 West Main Street, as major public places to see local and regional art. Looking at the current exhibition before choosing a date makes the stop more purposeful. A gallery visit, a performance and a special fundraising display may have different arrangements, so use the listed program rather than assuming every activity follows the same admission schedule.

Turn a library trip into a project

At 50 East Main Street, the Westminster library and Exploration Commons offer another starting point. The Commons’ equipment and lab system gives makers access to tools such as laser cutters and an embroidery machine after the required introductory training. The audio/video lab has a defined production purpose; it is not simply a general study room. Plan the training or booking first, then add a meal or another downtown stop around it.

Match your visit to the calendar

For a market visit or another downtown event, use the city’s downtown calendar to check the specific date, location and hours. Its date filters help distinguish upcoming events from past listings. Build the rest of your visit around a confirmed activity, leaving time for Main Street businesses. Event hours and individual shop hours may differ, so check any storefront that is central to your plans.
