Finksburg
Finksburg’s library and Sandymount Park provide specific destinations off the Route 140 corridor. Use those addresses and county planning resources to understand the unincorporated community.
Finksburg is an unincorporated Carroll County community often encountered through the Maryland 140 corridor. Two addresses on Old Westminster Pike make useful starting points away from a drive-through impression: the library and Sandymount Park. They provide a way to plan an actual stop and learn the area through its community facilities.
Spend time at the library
The Finksburg Branch of Carroll County Public Library is at 2265 Old Westminster Pike. It opened in 2009 with environmental features including geothermal wells and stormwater management. Today the branch lists meeting rooms, public computers, Wi-Fi, a drive-up window and a Memory Lab service among its resources. Browse the program calendar for a specific reason to visit, or contact the branch about room and equipment arrangements before bringing a group or a project.
Use the actual park entrance
The county’s park directions put Sandymount Park at 2250 Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg. Use that address when meeting someone or navigating to the park. The Westminster address shown in the county website’s general footer is the government office, not the park entrance. A library visit and time outside can form a modest local outing, with each stop planned around its own access and available time.
Understand the corridor context
The 2013 Finksburg Corridor Plan is a dated county reference for the Maryland 140 corridor, traffic circulation and environmental resources. It helps explain why the commercial route and the surrounding community need to be considered together. It does not establish that every proposed improvement has been built. For a current project or a property-specific question, use the county’s latest record for the exact site rather than treating a Finksburg postal label as a complete description of services or boundaries.
