Windsor Hills

Windsor Hills pairs winding residential streets and early-twentieth-century architecture with a neighborhood conservation trail.

Windsor Hills is a west Baltimore City neighborhood near the Gwynns Falls valley, adjoining Garwyn Oaks, Mount Holly and West Forest Park. Its historic landscape is a major part of its identity. The Maryland Historical Trust describes a district developed from about 1895 to 1930, with winding streets, stone walls, detached houses, duplexes and garden apartments.

Architectural forms include Shingle-style cottages, Dutch Colonial Revival houses, Foursquares and Craftsman bungalows. The historic district was listed in the National Register in December 2002. Its preservation boundary is a separate reference from the City’s planning-neighborhood boundary, so property-specific questions need the appropriate map.

Windsor Hills Neighbors provides a community contact. In its 2024 testimony to the Maryland General Assembly, the association described the Windsor Hills Conservation Trail and volunteer work by its Trail Committee. That gives residents a concrete way to learn about stewardship. Ask the current organizers about trail work and conditions before planning an activity; the testimony documents community involvement rather than a present trail inspection.
