Rosemont Homeowners/Tenants

Rosemont Homeowners/Tenants is a distinct rowhouse neighborhood whose history forms part of the wider Edmondson Avenue district.

Rosemont Homeowners/Tenants sits between Evergreen Lawn, Midtown-Edmondson, Mosher and Penrose/Fayette Street Outreach. Live Baltimore describes two-story brick rowhouses. The official neighborhood is separate from Rosemont to the northwest, even though both names appear in accounts of the wider Greater Rosemont area.

The Maryland Historical Trust includes this neighborhood in the Edmondson Avenue Historic District. Its account links the area to early-twentieth-century streetcar development and the growth of Black homeownership after 1949. It also records residents’ civil-rights organizing and opposition to the US Route 40 highway project. That history gives the residential streets a context beyond their architectural appearance.

For a regional trip, MTA’s Penn Line stop list includes West Baltimore, Halethorpe, BWI rail station and Washington Union Station. West Baltimore station lies outside this neighborhood, so plan the local connection as well as the train. A visit focused on houses or family history can start with the exact block, then use the district record to place it within the larger story of west Baltimore.
