Neighborhood
Pulaski Industrial Area
Pulaski Industrial Area combines a manufacturing history with newer visitor destinations, including Yard 56 on the former Pemco property.
Pulaski Industrial Area covers a different kind of east Baltimore setting from the rowhouse neighborhoods around it. A 2015 City planning report identifies 5601 Eastern Avenue as the former Pemco manufacturing site, associated with glass and porcelain products. The report places it in Pulaski Industrial Area, across from the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus.
A former factory address in current use
Today, Yard 56’s own visitor page uses that same Eastern Avenue address and provides shopping and dining directories. This is a concrete example of the area’s changing land use. The old planning document explains the industrial background; the operator’s current directory is the useful source for an individual business visit.
A broad industrial neighborhood
The City boundary meets Armistead Gardens, Kresson, Hopkins Bayview and several other communities. It also overlaps portions of Herring Run parkland and Quinton Street parkland. The result is a varied district rather than a single factory complex. Public-facing destinations and working industrial properties have separate entrances and operating arrangements.
