Patterson Place

Patterson Place’s two- and three-story rowhomes sit northwest of Patterson Park, close to its historic fountain and opportunities for park stewardship.

Patterson Place is a residential neighborhood northwest of Patterson Park. Live Baltimore describes two- and three-story rowhomes, while the City map distinguishes Patterson Place from both the park itself and the separately named Patterson Park Neighborhood. CARE, McElderry Park and Butchers Hill also meet its boundary.

A historic landscape nearby

In the adjoining park, Friends of Patterson Park dates the marble fountain to 1865 and credits George A. Frederick, also the architect of Baltimore City Hall. A 2003 restoration returned the fountain to use. This is one of the park’s architectural landmarks, giving nearby residential streets a connection to a much older designed public landscape.

Taking part in the park’s care

The Friends’ volunteer information offers a route into organized park stewardship. Residents can follow current opportunities and contact the group about participating. That relationship between nearby homes and a shared public park helps explain Patterson Place’s setting: its streets are residential, while recreation and volunteer activity extend into the larger landscape beside them.
