Neighborhood

Patterson Park Neighborhood

Patterson Park Neighborhood pairs rowhouse and apartment blocks with nearby park recreation, a historic library and resident-focused street improvements.

Patterson Park Neighborhood is the residential community beside the park of the same name. Live Baltimore describes rowhomes and apartment buildings. The City boundary meets Patterson Place, McElderry Park, Ellwood Park/Monument, Baltimore Highlands and Highlandtown, placing it among several southeast Baltimore communities.

Shared spaces inside and outside the park

Within the adjoining park, the Virginia S. Baker Recreation Center dates to 1974 and uses 2601 East Baltimore Street as its address. Its programs have their own current schedule. On the residential side, Southeast CDC’s fiscal-year 2024 report records ground murals installed at two neighborhood intersections.

Library Square as a local resource

The Patterson Park library branch at 158 North Linwood Avenue serves the wider neighborhood from Library Square. Collections, computers and printing make it useful for everyday tasks as well as reading. Together, the branch, street projects and neighboring park show the different scales of community life here, from an individual residential block to facilities serving a wider part of the city.
