Neighborhood

Original Northwood

Original Northwood combines a planned residential streetscape with neighborhood stewardship and practical library services at nearby Loch Raven Boulevard and Cold Spring Lane.

Notice the planned streetscape

Original Northwood’s association dates the development’s beginning to 1930 and describes houses built through the early 1950s. Curving streets and varied house designs are part of the neighborhood’s identity. This is Original Northwood, a specific community, rather than a label for every place around the broader Northwood area.

Start exterior-project questions locally

The association maintains covenant information and review contacts for residents considering changes. Before commissioning an exterior project, identify the property and proposed work when asking which documents and review steps apply. Keeping those questions at the address level is more useful than assuming that a general neighborhood description settles a particular property’s requirements.

Use the Northwood branch

Pratt’s Northwood branch, 4420 Loch Raven Boulevard at Cold Spring Lane, expressly serves Original Northwood. Public computers, printing, job assistance and meeting-room resources make it a useful stop beyond book borrowing.
