Morgan State University
Morgan State’s northeast Baltimore campus combines a long educational history with an active learning environment and specific visitor arrangements.
Morgan State University is both a major institution and a named area on Baltimore’s neighborhood map. Its campus sits among residential communities including Morgan Park, Lauraville, Hillen and Perring Loch. Those neighboring streets help place the university within northeast Baltimore while preserving each community’s separate identity.
A campus built after an earlier beginning
Morgan’s institutional history begins with the Centenary Biblical Institute in 1867. The college moved to its present northeast Baltimore site in 1917, and Carnegie Hall followed in 1919. Maryland purchased the institution in 1939; university status came in 1975. The sequence explains why Morgan’s founding date and the age of its present campus are different.
Arrange a visit through the university
Morgan’s visitor information gives the main campus address as 1700 East Cold Spring Lane and admissions at 1922 East Cold Spring Lane. Use its campus map and tour contacts to plan the visit. The university explicitly restricts visitors from entering buildings casually because classes and student activity continue inside; a campus destination is not an invitation to unrestricted interior access.
