Neighborhood

McElderry Park

McElderry Park’s rowhomes sit near Library Square, with a historic Pratt branch and local programs focused on homeownership and neighborhood investment.

McElderry Park is primarily a rowhouse neighborhood, with some apartment buildings described by Live Baltimore. The City map places it beside CARE, Milton-Montford, Madison-Eastend, Ellwood Park/Monument and Patterson Place. The separate neighborhood names reflect a dense sequence of residential communities north of Patterson Park.

A library with a long local history

The nearby Patterson Park branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library explicitly serves McElderry Park. Located at 158 North Linwood Avenue on Library Square, it opened in 1910 and was enlarged in 1954. Public computers, printing and a reservable meeting room give it uses beyond borrowing books.

Learning about homeownership

Southeast CDC’s Homebuyer Clubs include McElderry Park among their focus communities. The organization describes seven weekly workshops paired with individual counseling, with topics connected to preparing for a home purchase. Residents can ask about the next enrollment cycle and applicable requirements. The program is a route to information and preparation; it does not establish approval for a loan or a particular available property.
