Locust Point Industrial Area

Locust Point Industrial Area includes working marine terminals and Fort McHenry, where the public national park has a visitor process separate from port operations.

Distinguish the port from the public park

Maryland Port Administration security information identifies North Locust Point, South Locust Point and the cruise terminal as controlled-access facilities. Their wharves and operational entrances serve port business. A waterfront address therefore does not mean there is a public promenade, viewing area or casual route through the terminal to another destination.

Plan a Fort McHenry visit

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is the public historical destination at the end of the peninsula. Its National Park Service visitor pages provide directions, activities and access information. The fort appears within the City’s Locust Point Industrial Area mapping, while the nearby residential neighborhood of Locust Point has a separate identity.

Choose the grounds or Historic Zone

The NPS admission page distinguishes the free park grounds, visitor center and film from the paid adult admission to the Historic Zone. Registers are cashless. Choose the part of the site you intend to visit and check current seasonal opening times before departure, since the gates and indoor facilities do not necessarily share every hour.
