Neighborhood

Little Italy

Little Italy offers more than a restaurant visit: Italian language and cooking classes, Saint Leo’s community life and a named neighborhood bocce park.

Make the visit a learning experience

The Pandola Learning Center offers Italian language, cooking and cultural classes in Little Italy, with fall and spring semesters. The program welcomes neighbors and visitors. Pick the subject and level that interests you, then use the current registration information; a cooking workshop or language class makes a different outing from a restaurant reservation.

Follow Saint Leo’s community calendar

Saint Leo the Great church, at 227 South Exeter Street, is another neighborhood anchor. Its calendar and parish information are useful for understanding community events and worship arrangements. Check the particular gathering before arriving, because church services, office business and special events have different schedules and entry expectations.

Locate the bocce park

The City maps Saint Leo’s Bocce Park within Little Italy. It provides a named outdoor reference point when exploring the neighborhood. For organized play, ask the relevant host about a session, equipment or participation rather than assuming that a mapped court includes a standing public lesson or a place on a team.
