Neighborhood
Kresson
Kresson combines rowhouse streets with a documented manufacturing history on Haven Street and a present-day brewery destination nearby.
Kresson’s rowhouse setting, described by Live Baltimore, sits among several industrial neighbors. The City map places it beside Baltimore Highlands, Orangeville, Canton Industrial Area and Pulaski Industrial Area. Haven Street supplies a particularly clear connection to that manufacturing past.
A factory built for mantel making
The City’s Haven Street Factory designation report identifies the building at 101 North Haven Street with the Steiner Mantel Company. Built in 1903–04, the factory produced fireplace mantels, veneers and furniture. Later uses included canning, paper-box manufacturing and warehousing for Esskay. The sequence illustrates how one industrial building accommodated several different Baltimore businesses over time.
A current Haven Street destination
Monument City Brewing lists its brewery and taproom at 1 North Haven Street, a separate address from the designated factory. Its own calendar and visitor information are the right sources for a taproom outing. The distinction between the two addresses matters: Kresson’s industrial history and its current food-and-drink destinations share a street, but they are not interchangeable buildings.
