Howard Park

Howard Park pairs detached-house streets and a golf-course setting with the Ambassador Theater’s planned cultural reuse.

Howard Park is a Baltimore City neighborhood near the city’s western edge, adjoining Dorchester, Grove Park and Central Forest Park. Live Baltimore describes detached houses and substantial yards, while also listing rowhouses and apartments. The Forest Park golf landscape is another local reference, but Howard Park remains a separate residential neighborhood.

The Ambassador Theater on Liberty Heights Avenue is an important part of the area’s cultural story. Artspace’s project account describes the Art Deco building’s acquisition at auction in spring 2019 and a community process to shape its reuse. The intended destination is an arts and cultural center with space for making, viewing and performing art. As of the October 2, 2026 review, the source still presented redevelopment plans, not an operating performance calendar.

For neighborhood participation, Live Baltimore lists the Howard Park Civic Association. That is a useful starting point for local priorities and meetings. Follow the association for community activity and Artspace for theater updates; a rendering of a future arts space should not be used to plan an unannounced indoor visit.
