Neighborhood
Greektown
Greektown’s Ponca Street institutions and annual Greek Folk Festival give the neighborhood a cultural focus beside its residential blocks and Lehigh–Gough parkland.
Greektown has a cultural landmark in Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on South Ponca Street. The City neighborhood map places Greektown beside Hopkins Bayview, Pulaski Industrial Area and Canton Industrial Area. Its name is distinct from both the hospital campus and the larger industrial areas nearby.
Church and festival have separate addresses
Saint Nicholas lists the church at 520 South Ponca Street and its Greek Folk Festival at Greektown Square, 701 South Ponca Street. Food, music and dance bring the annual celebration into a wider community setting while supporting the church. Check the organizer’s festival page for the next announced dates and visitor arrangements before planning a trip around the celebration.
A smaller neighborhood green space
City mapping also identifies Lehigh and Gough parkland within Greektown. It provides a local public-space reference alongside the better-known cultural institutions. For an outing, the neighborhood offers distinct choices: an organized festival or church event, and the everyday streets and park setting around them.
