Neighborhood

Glen Oaks

Glen Oaks combines varied rooflines and rowhouse blocks with the Chinquapin Run landscape, between several distinct north Baltimore neighborhoods.

Glen Oaks is a residential neighborhood where small architectural differences give attached housing considerable variety. Live Baltimore’s description points to covered porches, sloping roofs and occasional turrets among its rowhomes, alongside apartment buildings. Those details offer a useful way to read the streets without assuming every block was built from the same design.

A neighborhood beside Chinquapin Run

The City’s mapped neighborhood touches Glen Oaks’ neighbors including Idlewood, Ramblewood, Woodbourne Heights and Chinquapin Park. City park mapping also places part of Chinquapin Run Park within Glen Oaks. The park’s larger footprint extends beyond this neighborhood, so select an actual entrance or destination when planning outdoor time rather than treating the entire stream corridor as one address.

Everyday resources farther west

The Govans branch at 5714 Bellona Avenue offers books, computers and printing outside Glen Oaks. Together with the residential streets and stream-side parkland, that nearby resource helps place the neighborhood within the wider north Baltimore area.
